Turgo turbine and its advantages

Turgo turbines are a variation of pelton turbines. Turgo has some advantages over Francis and Pelton designs for certain applications.
Firstly, the runner is cheaper to make than a pelton wheel. Secondly, it does not need an airtight housing like the francis turbine.
Thirdly, it has higher specific speed and can handle a greater flow than the same diameter pelton wheel, leading to reduced generator and installation cost.
Turgo turbine is not only characterized by high specific speed, high flow and even efficiency curve, but also by simple construction, easy erection test and adjustment, reliable operation, simple maintenance and low cost.
